DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Implements and maintains established departmental policies & procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
2. Inspects area daily for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and standards and takes corrective action when violations occur.
3. Renders Patient Centered Care based on individual patient needs, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
4. Assess the needs of assigned patients, identifying problems in relation to pathophysiology of disease process and standard of care.
5. Obtain initial interview/nursing history and communicates any observation that deviates from normal.
6. Identifies patient/family expectations and educational needs; communicates priorities.
7. Records information obtained and presented by colleagues during hand-over process using SBAR and ensure appropriate follow-up is carried out on timely manner.
8. Monitors medical condition of patients’ comfort and privacy, and expresses interest in their progress.
9. Ensures precision in maintenance of patient medical records; retains all required reports, records, statistics, etc.
10. Recognizes signs and symptoms of abuse, documents and reports as per NMH Policy.
11. Initiates Discharge planning.
12. Administers and controls narcotics and medications as ordered.
13. Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment.
14. Orient, instructs and trains assigned personnel (new staff nurses, patient care clerks).
15. Assists physicians with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care.
16. Supports in formulating and screening Quality Assurance criteria and providing in-service training for staff.
17. Supports attending physicians and aids patients & families as needed in times of stress or crisis.
18. Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental objectives and infection control policies.
19. Maintains a welcoming, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with Hospital standards.
20. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.
21. Attends meetings as required.

Operational Duties

1. Treats and diagnoses ailments specific to the female reproductive organs
2. Examines patients, performs and interprets diagnostic tests to obtain information on medical condition and determines diagnosis.
3. Counsels patients on diet, hygiene, and preventive health care.
4. Examines patients and determines x-ray examinations and clinical laboratory tests as required.
5. Detects the presence of multiple births or birth defects through ultrasound.
6. Conducts regular ward rounds independently and assists treating physicians during ward rounds.
7. Assists in gynecological operations when required.
8. Assists and attends deliveries either naturally or by cesarean section and ensures that the baby and mother are healthy. However, if it is required to deliver cases, he/she needs to take prior approval and perform the same under the supervision of the treating Consultant.
9. Attends and assists normal and complicated deliveries; attends casualty cases, provides emergency treatment and performs the necessary admission procedures with the Clinical Director’s approval.
10. Completes discharge files and statistics.
11. Writes medical reports in consultation with the treating Consultant.
12. Explains procedures and discusses test results or prescribed treatments with patients and families.
13. Refers patients to medical specialist or other practitioner when necessary.

21. Respects the opinions of department Consultants/Specialist and referring Physicians in the management of patient problems.
22. Recognizes limits of personal skills and knowledge by appropriately consulting Specialists/ Consultants while caring for the patient.

24. Participates in continuous quality improvement programs for Ob/Gyn. service
25. Attends the meetings of the Ob/Gyn. department to discuss the rules & regulations, obstacles in work, incidents & complications encountered and suggestions to improve the quality of service.
26. Participates regularly with other Ob/Gyn. staff, in decision-making related to patient care.
27. Participates in organizational performance improvement activities.
28. Accepts all other additional assignments found necessary by the Clinical Director- Ob/Gyn.

   3. Conducts complete skin examinations and delivers treatment for skin diseases; Pediatric dermatologic problems and Venereal diseases.
   4. Prescribes hormonal agents or topical treatments such as spironolactone, antiandrogens, oral corticosteroids, retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, and antibiotics.
   5. Provides dermabrasion or laser abrasion to treat atrophic scars, elevated scars, or other skin conditions.
   6. Provides therapies such as intralesional steroids and chemical peels to treat age spots, sun damage, rough skin, discolored skin, or oily skin.
   7. Assists in formulating plans & procedures for complex treatment procedures.
   8. Participates in organizational performance improvement activities.
   9. Recommends diagnostic tests based on patients' histories and physical examination findings.

Patient Care

1. 1. Maintains a work environment that promotes high standards for patient care, customer service, and ethical behavior.
   2. Monitors patients' conditions and progress and reevaluate treatments as necessary
   3. Guides patients on topics such as food diet, sun protection, skin cancer awareness etc.
   4. Undertakes all work in accordance with the procedures and operating policies, including Infection Control, Health and Safety, Risk Management etc.

   5. Ensures implementation of the standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of Dermatology.
   6. Exhibits appropriate personal and interpersonal professional behavior; practices medicine ethically.

   8. Shows a pattern of maintaining current personal clinical skills and knowledge by Continuing Medical Education (CME).

   9. Remains up to date in developments relevant to best practice in Dermatology.
   10. Participates in accredited conferences and meetings to update personal level of clinical practice, teaching and management skills in line with Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements.
   11. Attends scheduled meetings for the improvement of patient care services and delivery.
   12. Accepts all other additional assignments found necessary by the Clinical Director- Dermatology.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Works primarily in an air conditioned, well-lighted and comfortable health care facility, while also exposed to infections and close contact with the patients.
• Occasionally involves prolonged standing/walking, lifting supplies/equipment.
